Conversations That Actually Go Somewhere

Most of us learn about our own minds by accident. A relationship falls apart, a body stops cooperating, an old memory shows up uninvited, and suddenly we are trying to understand something nobody ever explained to us.

Naked Insights exists to fill that gap. Every episode takes one real question about trauma, mental health, relationships or wellbeing, and works through it properly. What is actually happening in the nervous system. Why it feels the way it does. And what genuinely helps, as opposed to what sounds good on a poster.

You do not need to be in crisis to get something out of it. If you are curious about how people work, and you would rather hear that from clinicians than from an algorithm, you are in the right place.

Topics We Take Seriously

Naked Insights covers the ground most people are quietly searching for at 2am.
  • Trauma and the nervous system

  • Anxiety, OCD and intrusive thought patterns

  • Attachment styles and why relationships repeat themselves

  • ADHD, autism and neurodivergence through a trauma-informed lens

  • Bipolar, borderline and the diagnoses people confuse

  • Psychosis and what it is actually protecting against

  • Perimenopause, hormones and the health nobody prepares women for

  • Codependency, people-pleasing and the cost of disappearing

  • Communication, boundaries and being properly heard

  • Knowing when a relationship is worth saving

Episode 20 – Season Finale – Becoming: The Psychology of Personal Growth

What does it actually mean to grow? We talk endlessly about healing, self-awareness, personal development and becoming the “best version” of ourselves. But real psychological growth is rarely comfortable, linear or particularly Instagrammable. Sometimes growth means…

Who Are You Listening To?

Adele Theron

Role line: Host | Certified Clinical Trauma Therapist | Founder of Naked Recovery

Adele has spent more than twenty years working with people through the hardest chapters of their lives, and has supported over 7,000 individuals through trauma, divorce, illness and recovery. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional registered with the International Institute of Trauma Professionals, the British Psychological Society, the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapy and the New Zealand Psychological Society, and is currently completing her doctorate in Health Psychology at the University of Auckland.

Her practice draws on Somatic Experiencing, Internal Family Systems, Hakomi, BPT and mindfulness. Her reputation is for being warm, direct and allergic to vagueness. She is also the founder of Naked Recovery and the author of several books on divorce and recovery.

Dr Lindsay Aikman

Role line: Season 2 Co-Host | Consultant Clinical Psychologist

Lindsay is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology in the UK, registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. She currently works in an Eating Disorder Intensive Treatment Team, supporting people whose physical health, identity, attachment and trauma are tightly bound together, and she spent seven years before that in an acute mental health unit alongside people in serious crisis.

She also brings close to a decade of earlier corporate experience in management research and organisational change, which shows up in how systematically she thinks. Underneath all of it sits one conviction: healing happens in relationship, with ourselves, with other people, and within our own bodies.

Sam McSorley

Role line: Season 1 Co-Host | Health Science Specialist

Sam is a clinician with a particular focus on women’s health, and a way of looking at the body as a record of everything a person has lived through. She works with breathwork and somatic mindfulness to reach the roots of emotional and physical distress, and her areas of expertise include autism, ADHD, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis and menopause.

She holds a Master’s in Health Science, a PGHlthSci, a BHSc in Complementary Medicine and a DipClinHerbMed, and is a member of the New Zealand Association of Medical Herbalists and the National Council of Women of New Zealand.

What Make This Podcast Different

One Guest. A Whole Season.

Most podcasts rotate through a new guest every week. Naked Insights does the opposite.

Each season pairs Adele Theron with a single co-host who stays for the full run. That means conversations pick up where the last one left off, ideas develop across episodes, and nobody wastes twenty minutes on introductions. By the end of a season you have heard two clinicians think out loud together, disagree occasionally, and build something that a one-off interview never gets near.

Clinically grounded

Every episode is anchored in psychology, neuroscience and clinical practice, not opinion.

Genuinely practical

You leave with something you can use, not just something you now know.

Refreshingly unfiltered

Myths get named. Bad advice gets challenged. Difficult topics stay difficult.

Listen Wherever You Already Listen. New episodes land regularly.
